Mentee

Taught me how to vibe code — and how to handle adversity with grace

I first met Edmund when he was a speaker introducing the FinTech course to our cohort. His confidence and drive immediately stood out as he shared his experiences and insights with us juniors, and I’ve looked up to him ever since. But his impact didn't stop at that presentation because throughout my time in university, Edmund has been both an incredible senior and a dedicated mentor to me. He was one of the first people to teach me how to properly 'vibe code' and introduce me to the right tools and platforms. Beyond technical skills, he taught me how to effectively navigate the complexities of university life, showing me how to successfully manage my time and balance academics with my outside activities.

Was there a specific mentoring moment that stuck with you?

Because he is always sharing new tools or helpful insights with us, it is hard to pick just one moment, but his biggest impact on me has been how he reshaped my mindset. In the past, whenever I hit a major obstacle or felt overwhelmed, my default reaction was to panic or 'crash out.' Edmund completely changed that because he showed me how to handle adversity with grace. He showed me how to pause, maintain my composure under pressure, and break down problems methodically instead of letting the stress take over. Learning how to navigate challenges calmly without burning out has been incredibly helpful to me and is a lesson that will stick like glue with me long after graduation.
